\"Janneke<\/a>Janneke (prounouced YAHN-uh-kuh), an alto, is a retired Montessori school teacher and has been singing with the chorale for four years. Her favorite performance so far was the Brahms Ein Deutches Requiem\u00a0<\/em>in the 2009-10 season, but she truly loves everything we sing.<\/p>\n

Like many of our singers, Janneke has an extensive background in music. \u201cI used to play flute and piano, and I sang in the University Choir at Southern Illinois University and in the Interlochen Music Camp in the Festival Choir doing big works under famous choral conductors like Margeret Hillis, Robert Shaw, and others over many summers,\u201d she says. \u201cSinging is the best way for me to express my musicality and learn more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Born in Holland, Janneke can speak Dutch, French, and German, and has two beloved grandsons, ages six and three. Music runs in the family: Janneke\u2019s daughter Lelie Resnick and Lelie\u2019s husband are both members of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Pacific Symphony, and Long Beach Symphony. Thus, Janneke and her husband frequently find themselves at those ensembles\u2019 performances.Janneke is a classical music buff and calls the radio station Classical KUSC 91.5 \u201ca blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n
