Meet the Members of the Long Beach Chorale

The Long Beach Chorale’s motto is Great Music, Up Close. We’ve always been committed to producing performances of the highest musical quality and providing an opportunity for the community to hear beautiful choral music in an intimate setting. We love what we do and love to share it. Now, here on our new blog, we’ll be posting brief profiles of our singers, artistic director, accompanist, and maybe even a few orchestral musicians to give you a better idea of who we are as individuals.

When we began this project, we were astounded to discover that the diversity of professions, interests, and talents among our membership was much greater than we knew! While we spend our time together singing, in our own separate lives we live vastly different lives! In our ranks we have hairstylists, professors and teachers, journalists, many German speakers, and even a sea shanty-singing forensic engineer. One of our singers previously held a top secret national security clearance. Another grew up in Eastern Germany, and yet another was born in Holland. We hope you’ll enjoy finding out more about us.

There’s another purpose to this project, and that is to help us gather donations to fund our future performances. While ticket sales, donations, singer dues, and some grants bring in revenue for us, the substantial expenses we incur each season demand that we do a little extra work to raise funds. When you read about one of our singers, you’ll see a donate button on each profile. We hope you’ll take the opportunity to “adopt a singer” and throw a few dollars our way. And if you’re able to give more than a few dollars, we’ll be eternally grateful! Every little bit helps. Your donations will be put directly toward funding professional-quality, local music.

Also, be sure to come back to the website for more regularly posted news about our upcoming concerts, program notes, and other fun stuff. We look forward to keeping you up to date. Our first concert this season will be held on December 10 and 11 and will celebrate “The 2,000-Year-Old Virgin.” Sound intriguing? You can learn more about the concert here.
